BASILE-It is with heavy hearts that the family of Alicia Veronie Young announces her passing on Monday, November 25, 2019 at the Oaklane Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in Eunice at the age of 100. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Entombment will follow in the St. Augustine Mausoleum with Father Brown Celebrant.
Alicia was a member of the St. Augustine Ladies Altar Society. She loved to dance and always made the best food, especially gumbo, bread, and fig preserves. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her especially her children, Hubert Young and wife, Charlotte of Lake Charles, Harry Young and wife, Sharon of Tepetate, Jeanette Kittler and husband, Richard of Bossier City, and Judy Fontenot and husband, Cloyd of Basile; seven grandchildren, Mark Manuel, Butch Manuel, Jason Manuel, Kelley Young, Bucky Young, Amy Johnson, and Phillip Young; ten great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren and extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Morris Young; parents, Linzey and Celeste Vidrine Veronie; her twin, Alice Veronie Weurdig and other brothers and sisters.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Basile on Wednesday, November 27th from 7:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited by the St. Augustine Ladies Altar Society at 10:00 am on Wednesday.
