Berlin Matt

EUNICE-Mr. Berlin Matt passed away peacefully at his home in Carencro, LA, surrounded by his family on July 5, 2022, at the age of 85. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Pastor Leldon Richard, officiating.

Berlin was born in Richard, LA, on September 11, 1936, to Austin and Lillian Richard Matt. Mr. Matt was a resident of Richard and Church Point during his childhood. He later moved to Eunice where he lived most of his life before moving to Carencro. He worked in the oilfield until an injury caused him to go into early retirement. After retirement, he enjoyed gardening and cooking the fruits of his labor. He is survived by his son, Berlin Ray Matt and wife, Susan, of Eunice, his daughters, Jo Ann Bishop and husband, Russell, of Valley, AL, Tanya Waddell and husband, Forrest of Ville Platte, bonus daughters, Helen Thomas and husband, Randy, of Carencro, Jody White and husband, Wes, of Melville, fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren with one on the way.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Lillian Richard Matt, his first wife and mother of his children, Ima Lee Riviere Matt, his second wife, Mildred Marie Leger Matt, two bonus sons, Charles Anthony Riviere and Thomas Lee Irvin.

At the request of the family visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Wednesday, July 6th from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm, and again on Thursday, July 7th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Chuck Ortego will pray a Rosary Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm.
