Obituary

EUNICE~It is with heavy hearts that the family of Bertha Fruge Turner announces her passing on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Eunice Manor at the age of 91. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Richard. Burial will follow in the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Cemetery with Father Raymond Ssebina, Celebrant.

Bertha, born on February 27, 1935, in Chataignier, Louisiana, was a beloved daughter of the late Olivier and Dulley Darbonne Fruge. She was a dedicated parishioner of St. Edward Catholic Church, cherishing her roles there as a lector, catechism teacher, and President of the Ladies Altar Society. In the past, she thoroughly enjoyed bowling, but later in life she found great joy in working in her yard, tending to her plants, and spending time with her grandchildren

A loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend, Bertha will be missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her daughter, Marsha Lyn Jacobs and husband, David of Eunice; her sisters, Mary Louise Fruge Lavergne and husband, Leelen R. of Eunice, and Jeanette Fontenot and husband, Ferold of Eunice; her grandchildren, Derek Jacobs of PA and Dustin Jacobs and wife, Kayla of Houston, TX; her great grandchildren, Madison Jacobs, Broody Jacobs, Jaden Compton, and Tanner Bullock; as well as extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marshall A. Turner; her parents; brothers, Wilson, Burkman, Leighton, James, and Carol Fruge; her sisters, Sarah Guillory, Lelia Stanford, and Louvella Manuel.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Tuesday, August 18th from 2:00 pm until 10:00 pm, and again on Wednesday, August 19th from 8:00 am until 12:30pm. Deacon Gary Gaudin will pray a rosary at 6:00 pm on Tuesday.
