BASILE-It is with heavy hearts that the family of Betty Fontenot announces her passing on Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Aime Hospice Care in Shreveport, La. She was 77. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 04, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Basile. Burial will follow in the Protestant Cemetery with Deacon Johney Jeans officiating.

Betty was strong willed, helpful and teaching life lesson till the end of life. She loved watching the news, game channels and doing her word search puzzles. She was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her especially her sons, Gary Young and wife, Tammy of Basile and Kurt Fontenot and wife, Amy of Craig, CO; her daughter, Tina McClelland of Bossier City; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Seldon Fontenot; son, Keith Young; father, Charlie Johnston; mother, Camie Reed; brothers, Ricky, Donald, Gene and John "J.C." Johnston and a sister Elaine White.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Basile on Monday, July 3rd from 3:00 pm until time of services on Tuesday, July 4th.
