Betty Jean Marcantel, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, in Basile, Louisiana at the age of 81. Born on November 16, 1943, in Jennings, Louisiana, she lived a life filled with love, devotion, and an unwavering faith in God.
As a housekeeper at Basile Care Center, Betty brought warmth and kindness to her workplace, always embodying the spirit of service that defined her character. Those fortunate enough to know her witnessed her dedication not only to her profession but also to her family and friends. A devoted Christian woman, Betty loved her God, and her faith was evident in every aspect of her life.
In her spare time, Betty found immense joy in gardening, where she nurtured not only beautiful blooms but also her relationships. Her garden was a reflection of her nurturing spirit—a sanctuary filled with love and care, much like the home she created for her family.
Betty is survived by her beloved son, Harold Marcantel of Eunice, and her treasured grandchildren, Sarah Manville and her husband Chris, and Cade Marcantel and his wife Katherine, who all carried forward her legacy of kindness and faith. Betty's heart swelled with pride for her great-grandchild, Adelaide Marcantel, who brought her endless joy and hope for the future.
She is also remembered fondly by her neighbor, Pastor Mike Fontenot, who shared a special bond with her centered around faith and community. Together, they reflected on the love of God and the importance of looking out for one another.
Betty is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry Marcantel, who remains a cherished memory, as well as her parents, Charlie Hebert, Jr. and Avalia Ardoin Hebert. She was also preceded by her brother, John W. Hebert, and her sister, Audrey Butler, who are all deeply missed by those who remember their love and laughter.
The life of Betty Jean Marcantel was a testament to the values of faith, family, and community. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her loved ones, who will continue to draw strength from the love and teachings she imparted throughout her remarkable journey. As we bid farewell, we celebrate the cherished memories of a beautiful soul who touched so many lives with her light and love.
