EUNICE-~It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Billy McCauley announces his passing on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at the Acadian Medical Center in Eunice at the age of 68. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 20, 2024, at the Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice.
Billy was born on March 14, 1956, to the late Franklin McCauley and Rucey Fontenot in Lafayette, Louisiana. He was affectionately known as “Pops or Papasan” by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His life was a testament to devotion: a loving husband, a dedicated father, a caring brother, an adoring grandfather, and a true friend. After working tirelessly in the oilfield until retirement at the age of 62, he continued to bring his skills to Fontenot Diesel in Eunice.
As a die-hard New Orleans Saints fan and enthusiastic Harley Davidson motorcycle rider, he embraced every moment with joy. Those who encountered Billy experienced his unwavering kindness and warmth; he never met a stranger and always offered a helping hand. With a great sense of humor, he lit up the lives of those around him, leaving them with smiles and laughter.
Billy had an immense love for his family, raising not only his own children but also his nieces and nephews, ensuring they always felt supported and cherished. His grandchildren, who adored him deeply, will forever carry the fond memories of his unwavering presence at their sports events and activities.
He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife of fifty years, Susan C. McCauley of Eunice; sons, Chad Davis McCauley and William “Lil Billy” Davis McCauley, Jr. and wife, Cadie, all of Eunice; daughter, Tiffany M. Fisher and husband, Jacob of Broussard; brothers, Sandez McCauley and Neil McCauley, both of Mamou; sisters Christine McCauley of Mamou and Michelle McCauley of Lake Charles; six grandchildren, William McCauley, Kolt McCauley, Zoi’ McCauley, Lucas McCauley, Lilian Fisher, and Mason McCauley; as well as extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Judy Kay McCauley and Diana McCauley; and brother in laws, Mark “Foe” Cortina and Steve Cortina.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 2:00 pm until 10:00 pm, and again on Friday, September 20, 2024, from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Thursday.
