Obituary

Cindy found joy in traveling and experiencing new places, but some of her happiest moments were spent surrounded by the people she loved most.

Cynthia M. Darbonne, of Basile, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 14, 2026, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, with Father Brown officiating. Interment will follow at St. Augustine Mausoleum.

Cindy was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a dedicated teacher who touched the lives of many through her work, her kindness, and her caring nature. Cindy found joy in traveling and experiencing new places, but some of her happiest moments were spent surrounded by the people she loved most. Family was incredibly important to her, and she was blessed with a large and loving support system, especially during the later years of her life. The love, encouragement, and presence of her family and friends meant so much to her throughout her journey. Among her greatest joys were her two favorite grandchildren, Baylor and Blair, who held a very special place in her heart and brought her countless moments of happiness and love.

Throughout her battle with cancer, Cindy remained surrounded by the love and support of her family, friends, and community. Even during difficult times, she was never without those who cared deeply for her and walked beside her.

She is survived by her son, Jacques Darbonne of Basile; her daughter, Katie (Beau) Maggio of Oberlin; her brother, Richard “Kirk” Manuel of Moss Bluff; and her grandchildren, Baylor and Blair.

Family was incredibly important to her, and she was blessed with a large and loving support system, especially during the later years of her life.

She now joins her beloved husband in Heaven, Horace Darbonne, and her parents, Joseph and Olga Manuel.

Cindy’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her friends, family, support group, and all those who provided care, comfort, and encouragement throughout her illness. Their kindness and unwavering presence will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. and again on Monday, September 14th from 8:00 am until the time of services.

Cindy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on through the family she cherished, the students whose lives she touched, the friendships she treasured, and the many beautiful memories she leaves behind.
