David Grant Fontenot was born November 10, 1968 in Eunice, Louisiana and passed away June 16, 2019 at his residence in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Grant graduated from Eunice High School in 1987. He furthered his education with both a Bachelor of
Arts degree in History in 1993 and a Master of Business Administration in 1996 from Louisiana State
University.
His successful career began in banking and finance and most recently transitioned into project
management and consulting. Grant also had an entrepreneurial spirit, previously owning a lawn care
company, Greenworks, and co-owning a Jambalaya Shoppe in Port Allen.
Grant is survived by his mother Blanche Blalock, his brother John Jerome, niece Gracelynn Anne, cousins
Carol Sanderlin, Gary Penouilh, and Noel Penouilh. He was preceded in death by his father Raymond
Fontenot.
Intelligent, witty, a cultured Southern gentleman – Grant was a man of great character. A natural
conversationalist and gracious host, you could find him surrounded by friends, telling intriguing stories
(most of them true), cooking and entertaining on his patio, critiquing the newest restaurants and
watering-holes, or spending time on his boat, the “Sea Y’all.”
He never missed a Saints game and was an avid fan and season ticket holder for over 20 years. Keenly
interested in politics, the current political scene was one of his favorites.
Grant is profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his adoring friend Julie Williams
Bondy of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, his long-time friends Tyler Cummings of Baton Rouge, LA and Sadie
Quinn of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and his devoted Labrador and companion of 13 years, Jack.
His family and friends have comfort in knowing that he fell into the arms of Jesus.
Donations in Grant’s memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
At the request of the family, visitation will begin at 9:00 am on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 and A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice with Father Matthew Hebert officiating.
