BASILE~It is with heavy hearts that the family of DeEtte Person Denette announces her passing on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at her home at the age of 53. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery with Father Kennan Brown, celebrant.

     DeEtte was born on November 4, 1972, and dedicated her life to serving others through both her profession and her faith. She was the owner and operator of Cuttin’ Up with DeEtte Beauty Shop for 28 years and was a beautician for 35 years. DeEtte’s salon was more than a place for hair care—it was a gathering place where friendships were formed and lasting memories were made. She faithfully served St. Augustine Catholic Church as a CCD teacher, youth group leader, and choir director. She was always the life of the party, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing penny slots at the casino, riding her golf cart with the grandkids, singing every day, enjoyed her time talking with Jesus, and cheering on all the Bearcats at sporting events. Deeply rooted in her faith, she was actively involved in her church and community, touching countless lives through her kindness, generosity, and servant’s heart. Her warm smile, compassionate spirit, and unwavering love for her family and friends will be cherished forever. 

   DeEtte was the true “First Lady” of Basile, serving the Basile community in countless events for the local children and their families alongside her husband Mark, the Mayor of Basile for the last 12 years. 

    A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, DeEtte will be missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her husband of 33 years, Mark Denette; her father, Noble Person; her mother-in-law; Jessica G. Denette; her daughters, Chelsie Guidry and husband, Joshua of Basile, Kinslie Hebert and husband, Jobe of Welsh, Harlie LeBoeuf and husband, Brett of Eunice, and Abby Comeaux, stepdaughter of Iota, her brothers, Monty Person and wife, Tonya of Eunice , Brad Person and wife, Shannon of Eunice, Jed Person and wife, Raedonna of Lake Charles, Wade Person of Basile, and her sister, Milissa Person of Basile. Also, she was known as “Mamaw” to her beloved grandchildren, Kolston Landry, Koy Comeaux, Sally-Jean Guidry, Rivers Guidry, Genevieve Guidry, Stone Guidry, Franki Guidry, and Alden LeBouef, as well as numerous extended family members and dear friends. 

    She was preceded in death by her mother, Genny Person, and her father-in-law, Ronnie Denette. This beautiful woman has earned her wings and as she says, “I love Jesus very very much” and “I love God to the moon and back.” 

    At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m., on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m., with a rosary being prayed at 6 p.m., and again on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 8 a.m. until time of services. 

    Pall bearers are her brothers Monty, Wade, Jed, and Brad and her brother in laws Blake and Jeremy.
