Dr. Luke Miller

EUNICE~Our hearts are filled with sorrow as we announce the passing of our loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, Dr. Luke John Miller on Monday, September 13, 2021, at The Carpenter House in Lafayette at the age of 90. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday, September 20, 2021, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Entombment will follow in the St. Paul Mausoleum with Father Sal Istre, Celebrant.

Dr. Miller proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He enjoyed square dancing and devoted his life to teaching. He was a 1948 graduate of St. Edmund High School as well as a graduate of  SLI, Stephen F. Auston and University of Southern Mississippi. He retired as Professor, Emertus of Southeastern University. His greatest passion and love were his family especially his two loving children, Alida L. Miller  of Youngsville and John David Miller of Hammond; his loving granddaughter, Andi Rochelle Miller Abbott and husband, Justin and his great grandson, Harvey Jameson Abbott; as well as extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of over sixty years, Ruth Sheffield Miller; parents, Luke and Annabelle Buford Miller and a brother, Buford Miller.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Eunice, on Sunday, September 19th from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Monday, September 20th from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be led by Deacon Gary Gaudin at 6:00 pm on Sunday.
