IOTA~Our loving mother, Ethel Pousson Brown, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family at the age of 94. Ethel lived her life making special memories with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota. Entombment will follow in the St. Joseph Mausoleum with Father Andrew Killeen, Celebrant.
Ethel’s life was a beautiful journey marked by dedication, love, and a deep commitment to her community and family. A proud graduate of St. Francis High School, she devoted thirty-six years of her life to shaping young minds at Iota High School. Beyond her career, Ethel was a 4-H leader, where she lovingly guided not only her grandchildren but many other students, nurturing their growth and potential. Her faith was a cornerstone in her life, reflected in her lifelong membership with the Catholic Daughters. Ethel found joy in the simple pleasures — traveling with family, attending livestock shows, fun weekly outings with her sister, and expressing her creativity through sewing, particularly in crafting beaded Christmas stockings.
Ethel was a strong matriarch who will be deeply missed by all who loved her. She is survived by her four loving children, Barbara LeJeune and husband, Roger, James Bennett Brown and wife, Pam, Cathy Guidry and husband, Dennis, and Kelli LeBeouf and husband, Jeff. She is also survived by eight loving grandchildren, Andrea Poff, Noelle Thomas, Erica Brown, Dylan Brown, Kyle Guidry, Todd Guidry, Meagan LeBeouf and Morgan Henderson; thirteen great grandchildren, Noah, Cooper, Easton, Lou, Sawyer, John Paul, Karter, Elliot, Ava, Caroline, Sarah Catherine, Amelia, and Hugh; as well as extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Austin “Tony” Brown of sixty-seven years; her parents, Raymond and Lillian Pousson; brother, Leven Pousson; sister, Lily Pousson; brothers in law, Alvin Rougeau Sr. and L.C. Darbonne; sisters in law, Lorraine Pousson, Rena Rougeau, and Zula Darbonne; and nephew, Steven Pousson.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Iota on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from 10:30 am until 9:00 pm and again on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 8:00 am until time of services. On Tuesday, a Divine Mercy Chaplet will be at 3:00 pm and a Rosary prayed by the Catholic Daughters at 6:00 pm.
