Ferrel Joseph Fontenot

EUNICE – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ferrel J. Fontenot, a dedicated carpenter who tirelessly served the people of Evangeline Parish. Ferrel, born on Tuesday, January 9, 1951, in Ville Platte, Louisiana, peacefully departed from this world on Sunday, May 26, 2024, in Eunice, Louisiana at the age of 73.
 
Ferrel was not just a skilled carpenter; he was a pillar of strength and support for those around him. His craftsmanship was unmatched, but it was his kind heart and willingness to lend a helping hand that truly set him apart. Beyond his career, Ferrel found solace in the simple pleasures of life. One could often find him casting a line and fishing in Bayou Du Loc, finding peace and tranquility in nature's beauty.
 
In this time of grieving, we remember Ferrel fondly and celebrate the life he lived. His memory will forever be cherished by his surviving family members including his wife, Donna Fontenot of Pine Prairie; five children, Kathy F. Deville of Eunice, Robert Fontenot and wife, Christine of Plaucheville, Orise Fontenot of Eunice, Mark Fontenot of Eunice, and Adrine Fontenot and wife, Amanda, of Cankton; nine grandchildren, Hunter Fontenot, Tyler Fontenot, Lauren Fontenot, Lacey Fontenot, Drake Fontenot, Dylan Fontenot, Kaylee Fontenot, Ava Fontenot, and Guy Miller; and four great grandchildren, Aurora, Wyett, Emilia, and Beaux Meadors.  Also left behind to cherish his memory are his two brothers, Ellis Fontenot and wife, Phyllis, of New Orleans and Richard Fontenot and wife, Anna of Mamou and sister, Theresa Soileau of Ville Platte.

 Ferrel is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Issom and Ruby Brown Fontenot; brother, Elson Fontenot; sister, Mary Ann Ducote; and three grandchildren, Victoria, Cassie, and Nicholas Fontenot.
 
Services to honor and remember Ferrel J. Fontenot will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice. Visitation will take place on Friday, May 31, 2024, starting at 2:00 PM and concluding at 7:00 PM followed by a Funeral Service

Ferrel's legacy of hard work, kindness, and generosity will live on through all those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace knowing that he made a difference in the lives of many.
