IOTA - Florencio Nunez was welcomed into the hands of the Lord on Saturday, July 25, 2026.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Iota on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. A Rosary will be prayed at 2:00 p.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 3:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Jude Thierry officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Florencio was born on August 9, 1935, in Fort Stockton, Texas. At the young age of 14, he began working on the family farm, developing the strong work ethic that would define his life. He spent several years as a truck driver before dedicating most of his career to construction work. Known for his remarkable ability to fix and build just about anything, Florencio found great joy spending time in his shop, always working on a new project. He was a man of many talents whose hands were rarely still.
Above all, Florencio cherished his family. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, determination, and unconditional love that will be treasured by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Larry (Lisa) Wayne of Santa Fe, Texas; his daughters, Betty Kay (Ramon) Hernandez of Austin, Texas, Dolores (Mike) Pousson of Iota, Louisiana, Vanessa Romero of Rayne, Louisiana, and Johanna Boudreaux of Church Point, Louisiana; fourteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved deeply.
He was welcomed into eternal rest by his loving wife, Mary Nunez; his parents, Atanacio Nunez and Catalina Campos; his sons, Michael Guillory of Maringouin, Louisiana, and Gregory Olivier of Rayne, Louisiana; his brothers, Benito Nunez and Nicholas Nunez; and his sisters, Eulalia and Guadalupe.
Though he will be deeply missed, Florencio's family finds comfort in knowing he has been reunited with those who went before him and now rests peacefully in the loving embrace of the Lord.
