Geneva Marie “Jane” Fontenot Thibodeaux, a beloved homemaker and devoted mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 11, 2025, in Eunice, Louisiana, at the age of 85. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at 1:00 PM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the St. Thomas More Cemetery with Father Randy Moreau officiating services.
Geneva “Jane” Thibodeaux was born on Monday, January 22, 1940, in Duralde, Louisiana, and was known for her kind spirit and nurturing nature. She embodied the phrase, "to know her is to love her," always prioritizing the well-being of those around her. Throughout her life, Jane was recognized as an awesome cook, delighting family and friends with her cooking talents. Jane’s home was a gathering place, where warmth and love were plentiful. She stayed faithful to her religious beliefs, which guided her actions and relationships throughout her lifetime.
Jane is survived by her son, Douglas Andrew Thibodeaux of Lafayette; daughters, Sheila Thibodeaux Lane (Buddy) of Eunice and Belinda Thibodeaux Broussard (Gib) of Youngsville; and her three cherished grandchildren, Hope Francis (Terry) of Brighton, Colorado, Jeffery Lane (Lyndsey) of New Iberia, and Donovan Thibodeaux (Hollyn) of Prairieville. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Brianna Francis Enos (Jake) of Colorado Springs, Ashton Francis of Brighton, Colorado, Owen Thibodeaux of Prairieville, Jackson Lane of New Iberia, and Jennifer Lane of New Iberia, and a great-great-grandmother to Luna Enos of Colorado Springs.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Eugee and Eva Fontenot; her husband, Elvy Thibodeaux; her brothers, Bee, Burkman, Rayford, Tony, and Dale Fontenot; and her sisters, Hazel Higginbotham and Helena Herbert. They wait to greet her in the embrace of their eternal rest.
Jane’s family invites you to join them in celebrating her life during the services. There will be a visitation on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and again on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 8:00 AM until 12:30 PM. A rosary will be recited and led by David Guillory on Monday at 6:30 PM.
Geneva “Jane” Thibodeaux's legacy of kindness, faith, and love will forever be cherished by all who knew her.
