George Maitre

   Eunice`It is with loving hearts that the family of George Albert Maitre announces his passing on Friday, June 2, 2023 at his residence at the age of 86.  A Chapel Service will be held at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Ardoin’s Funeral Home with Father Sam Fontana, officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.

     George was born on March 23, 1937 to George and Jeanne Lamarque Maitre of New Orleans.  George was a loving husband to his wife, Joan Gehbauer Maitre, for over fifty years. He was a skilled electrician with Gulf Best Electric for several decades and served his country through the Naval Reserves. While George loved fishing, traveling, watching old movies and joking around, his favorite pastime was talking. He never met a stranger, and his family finds comfort in knowing his legacy will live on through the many stories he shared.  George was also a skilled craftsman who could build and fix just about anything he touched.  He will be missed dearly by his loving children, Michelle Borne and husband, Glenn of Eunice and Mark Maitre and wife, Stacey of Porter Ranch, CA; six grandchildren, Derek Borne and wife, Andre’’ of Eunice, Jessica Turner and husband, Trey of Eunice,  Asher Maitre of Reseda, CA, Cameron Maitre, Selam Maitre and Sosina Maitre all of Porter Ranch, CA; and four great grandchildren, Mallory Borne, Adalynn, Annabelle and Daniel Turner.

     He is preceded in death by his wife, Joan Gehbauer Maitre and his parents.

     At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Tuesday, June 6^th from 9:00 am until time of services.
