EUNICE~It is with heavy hearts that the family of George Soileau, Jr. announces his passing on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the Carpenter House in Lafayette at the age of 90. A Celebration of Life will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 1, 2026. Entombment will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery with Pastor Corey Elkins officiating.

George was born on July 15, 1936, in Grand Prairie, Louisiana to the late George and Emma Fontenot Soileau. He was a proud veteran of the United States Airforce. George spent his entire career in education and taught at Highland Elementary in Eunice for many years, then became principal at East Elementary. Later in his career, he worked as a supervisor with the St. Landry Parish School Board in Opelousas. He loved to hunt and fish, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, especially watching them play sports.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife of forty-four years, Pam Fontenot Soileau of Eunice; his son, Daniel Soileau and wife, Leanna of Eunice; his daughter, Cindy Soileau Feucht and husband, Llewellyn of Eunice; and his step-son, Jason Sonnier of Eunice. George was affectionately known as “Pop” by his grandchildren, Josh Soileau and wife, Chasity, Brandy Rozas and husband, Ryan, Jamie Trichell and husband, Joey, Haley Leger and husband, Hunter, Erin Elkins and husband, Corey, Kaylen Sonnier, and Brett Sonnier; and his eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; as well as other extended family and friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Keith Soileau; brothers, J.C. Soileau and Lenus Soileau; and sisters, Jeanne Soileau and Emma Joyce Soileau.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 11:00 am until time of services.
