EUNICE~It is with heavy hearts that the family of Geraldine Picard Ruppert announces her passing on Monday, September 21, 2026, at her home at the age of 72. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, September 25, 2026, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice. Burial will follow in the St. Thomas More Cemetery with Father Sam Fontana, Celebrant.

Geraldine, known as Geri to all, was born on July 22, 1954, in Mamou, Louisiana. She was a beloved daughter of the late Leo and Nita Leger Picard. Geri will forever be remembered as a devoted and cherished member of her community. As a dedicated parishioner at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, she lovingly contributed her time to the 'Cleaning Angels' keeping the church clean and touched many lives through teaching religion for two decades. Her commitment extended to the Vacation Bible School and her involvement with the Catholic Daughters since 2010, where she was honored as Catholic Daughter of the Year in 2021. Since 2013, she participated in the Lord Come Jesus group and graciously hosted Father Manny for many years.

Professionally, Geri worked as an optometrist technician, serving diligently in various practices in Eunice. Her personal passions included sewing, cooking for her beloved family, and creating precious memories with her grandchildren during sleepovers. Geri's warmth, dedication, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, Geri will be missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her husband of fifty-two years, Richard Ruppert of Richie; her children, Brock Ruppert of Eunice, Nicholas Ruppert and wife, Aleesha of Houston, TX, and Jacob Ruppert and wife, Holly of Richie; her siblings, Elma Guidry, Wilda Bellard and husband, Laurent, and John Picard and wife, Linda, all of Eunice; her grandchildren, Caroline Ruppert-Cary, Rylee Ruppert, Jett Ruppert, and Malli Ruppert; as well as extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and nephew, Randy Bellard.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Thursday, September 24th from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and again on Friday, September 25th from 8:00 am until time of services. Father Sam Fontana will pray a rosary at 6:30 pm on Thursday.
