Gregory Lou "Butterfly" Young

Gregory "Butterfly" Young, 65, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Gregory was a hardworking man with a heart as big as his smile. He never could sit still for long - whether he was working with horses, farming, driving his 18-wheeler, or spending time outdoors, he was always on the move. He had a deep love for horses and dedicated much of his life to caring for and working with them.

Gregory cherished the simple joys in life. He loved visiting with his friends on the phone, sharing stories and laughter with those he cared about. Above all else, he treasured his family. Time spent with his children, grandchildren, and loved ones brought him the greatest happiness, and the memories they shared together will be forever held close to their hearts.

He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Young; his four children, Shawna LeJeune and husband Kevin, Joseph Sam LeJeune III and wife Leslie, Amanda LeJeune and husband Corey, and Sami-Jo LeJeune and husband Richie; his beloved grandchildren, Courtney Elizabeth, Cassidy McGee, Kristiana McGee, Tristen Gregory,  Noah, Becca, Peyton, and Liam; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Ryver Thibodeaux, and Joseph Paul.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Betsy Smith Young; his precious great-grandchildren, Brynleigh Marie, Blakelynn Ariella, and Gavin Paul; and his father-in-law, Alfha Harrell.

Gregory will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of family, his kind heart, and the countless conversations and laughter he shared with those around him. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM. Visitation will continue on May 19, 2026 at 9AM with Funeral services to follow at Eunice United Pentecostal Church at 1:00 PM with Pastor Todd Reddick officiating.
