Harry Anthony Fruge

Eunice

EUNICE-It is with heavy hearts that the family of Harry Anthony Fruge announces his passing at the Southwest Veteran’s Home in Jennings on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at the age of 80. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 21, 2020 at First Baptist Church in Eunice. Entombment will follow in the St. Paul Mausoleum with Pastor Brent Shoalmire officiating.

Harry was a retired veteran of the United States Army, completing three tours in Vietnam. He was with the 101st Airborne Division where he was declared a Master Parachutist and received a Purple Heart, Silver Star, Bronze Medal, and several other commendations. After serving his country proudly for 20 years, he worked as an offshore oilfield electrician for 25 years. Harry enjoyed camping and crossword puzzles, but most of all he loved his family and his canine companion, Jolie. Through the years, he was a member of the VFW, taught Sunday school, and was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church.

Harry, a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife of 59 years, Loretta Pitre Fruge of Eunice; daughters, Melody Guidry of Lafayette, Lisa Johnson and husband, Kevin of Eunice, Penny Richey and husband, Arthur of Sour Lake, TX, and Wendy Marcantel of Alexandria; nine grandchildren, Tony LaFleur, Kari Fruge, Erin Cheng, Rhett Johnson, Jillian Johnson, Brandon Richey, Johnathan Richey, Paige Arbuckle, and Madeline Marcantel; fifteen great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard Joseph and Rena Ardoin Fruge; brother, Lee Arthur Fruge; and two great grandchildren.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at First Baptist Church in Eunice on Thursday, February 20th from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again at First Baptist Church in Eunice on Friday, February 21st from 9:00 am until time of services.
