EUNICE-Funeral Services for Hazel Virginia Jenkins, 89, will be Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Eunice. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Pastor Tim Moffett officiating.

Mrs. Jenkins, a resident of Eunice, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2008 at the Acadian Medical Center. Hazel was a member of First Baptist Church since May 22, 1949. She was an active member of WMU, Secret Pal, and Sunday School. Attended T.H. Harris in Opelousas where she gained a degree for License Practical Nursing and was licensed in 1964. She worked as a nurse at Moosa Memorial Hospital and Eunice Care Center for 20 years before she retired.

A loving mother, sister, and grandmother, Hazel is survived by two sons, Roderick J. Jenkins of Baton Rouge and Raleigh W. Jenkins and wife, Peggy of Baton Rouge; one daughter, Oneita J. Kratzer of Eunice; three grandchildren, Raleigh William Jenkins, Jr., Jason Allen Jenkins, and Jessica Lyn Kratzer; and one great grandson; and nieces and nephews from Converse and Shreveport, LA and Mesquite and Tyler, TX.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Jenkins; parents William Clinton and Nancy Elizabeth Barron Brown; son-in-law, Eddie P. Kratzer; granddaughter, Nancy Elizabeth Kratzer; two brothers, Prentice D. Brown and Leroy P. Brown; and one sister, Mable I. Brown Norwood.

Family request that visiting hours be observed on Monday, April 28, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until services.
