Irene Fruge

BASILE~It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Irene Fruge announces her passing on Friday, October 23, 2020 in the comfort of her home at the age of 95. A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 pm at the Annunciation of The Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Duralde . Burial will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery with Deacon Chuck Ortego.

Irene was the Co-owner of Ray’s IG  in Basile. She also worked at Hebert’s Grocery, Eunice Poultry, Eunice Superette and took care of the elderly. In her spare time, she loved to quilt but most of all she loved her family and spending her free time with them brought a great deal of joy to her life. She will be truly missed by all the lives she touched and will be forever in our hearts. She was the loving mother to her son, Pat Fruge and wife, Renee of Basile; her three beautiful grandchildren, Michelle Stroder of Basile, Drew Fruge and wife, Hannah of Basile and Matt Fruge and wife, Corrine of Arnold, NE; as well as extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by husband, Rufus Fruge; he daughter, Linda Stroder; her son-in-law, Ray Stroderd;her parents; Emar and Osea Vidrine Johnson; her two brothers, Curtis and Joe Johnson and a  sister, Agnes Fontenot.

At the request of the family , visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Monday, October 26th from 10:00 am until time of services. Deacon Chuck Ortego will recite a Rosary at 1:00 pm on Monday.
