Obituary

Basile~ It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the sudden passing of James G. Hebert, on Friday, August 07, 2026, leaving behind cherished memories at the age of 79. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Basile beginning at 10:00 am, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 pm at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Basile.

James Hebert, born March 9, 1947, in Jena, Louisiana, was the beloved son of the late Frenchie and Annie Hebert. He served his country with pride in the United States Air Force. Following a distinguished fifty-year career in the oilfield, James worked for the town of Basile, where he found great joy in cooking for his coworkers, considering them a second family. An avid outdoorsman, he cherished fishing and hunting, and often enjoyed spending time in his workshop, crafting and cooking. James's life was marked by dedication, service, and a love for those around him.

James loved his family and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife of forty-seven years, Mary Hebert of Basile; his son, Jim Hebert and wife, Ashley of Basile; his daughters, Nikki Hebert of Houston, TX and Lori Hebert of Thibodeaux; and a sister, Janice Wyatt and husband, Ed of Jena. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren, Cameron Ewing, Kara Hebert, Ellie Hebert, Ridge Hebert, Trey Hebert, Jacy Blanchard and Victoria Craft, as well as extended family and dear friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Janna Hebert; and brothers, Kenneth and Dennis Hebert.
