Jane Ellen McGee Ulery was a devoted and loving wife, godmother, aunt, sister, and cherished friend to many. She passed away on August 18, 2024, following an unexpected medical event. She leaves behind a legacy of grace, generosity, and spirited service.
A proud graduate of St. Edmund's High School, Jane was honored as Homecoming Queen during her senior year. Her charisma and charm earned her recognition as 1st Runner-Up in the Miss Eunice Pageant, which led to her reign as International Rice Festival Queen. She continued her education at Delta Business School before beginning her career in New Orleans.
Jane later moved to Michigan, where she worked as an administrative assistant for LTV (now Lockheed Martin). It was there that she met the love of her life, Edson “Ed” Lee Ulery. After marrying Ed, the couple eventually relocated to Arlington, Texas. During her time in Texas, Jane dedicated herself to volunteering with various organizations that supported animal welfare—a reflection of her kind and nurturing spirit. She also traveled extensively in Europe, the Middle East, and the Far East with her husband while he pursued international aerospace and defense activities.
In retirement, Jane and Ed made their home in Sedona, Arizona, where she embraced a life of service inspired by Saint Mother Teresa. As a co-worker with the Missionaries of Charity, Jane volunteered at the Navajo Indian Reservation in Gallup, New Mexico. She lovingly participated in summer camps, distributed school supplies and helped host annual Christmas celebrations—always with joy and compassion.
Eventually, Jane and Ed settled in Scottsdale, Arizona. Jane leaves behind her beloved husband of 52 years, Edson Lee Ulery; her oldest brother, retired Judge A. Frank McGee, III and his wife Elaine; her youngest brother, Louis Landford McGee and his wife Janet; and her sister-in-law, Sue McCall and her husband, Michael. She was affectionately known as “Nannie Jane” to her nephews, nieces, great-nieces, and great-nephews, who will always carry her memory in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Lillie and Louis McGee; mother and father-in-law, Mildred and Dale Ulery; as well as her numerous beloved pets.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Eunice, 1301 West Laurel Ave, followed by entombment in St. Paul Mausoleum. Family visitation will take place on Saturday, August 2nd, from 11:00 to 11:30 AM, with general visitation from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. The memorial service will begin at 1:00 PM with Deacon Gary Gaudin officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Edmund's Catholic School or a charity of your choice—continuing Jane’s legacy of love and service.
