EUNICE~It is with the heaviest hearts that the family of Jimmie Deshotel announces his passing on Thursday, March 11, 2021 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family. He was 92.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Interment will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery with Father Sal Istre, Celebrant.

Jimmie was born and raised in Mamou and spent his adult life in Eunice. He worked in the oilfield industry as a truck driver for Circle Drilling, Nicklos Drilling, Enterprise, and H. Brown. Upon retiring from the oilfield, he worked as a security guard at Moosa Memorial Hospital.

Jimmie was a simple man with simple needs who worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He enjoyed spending time at home with his wife, children and grandchildren and found pleasure in sharing his knowledge of planting and harvesting his garden with them.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of sixty-nine years, Deola A. Deshotel of Eunice; his three children, Kaye Eval and husband, Getty, Danny Deshotel and wife, Jackie and Scott Deshotel and wife, Lisa all of Eunice; a sister, Anna Belle Fontenot of Pine Prairie; the six joys of his life, his grandchildren, Ryan Deshotel, Jon-Erik Eval, Emily Deshotel, Katie Deshotel, Taylor Eval and wife, Hannah and Katherine Deshotel and one great grandson, Korbin Deshotel as well as extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, DeJean and Agnes Aucoin Deshotel; four brothers, Fernest, Elridge, Elba and Ebra  Deshotel; four sisters, Erness Deville, Luna Fontenot, Evelyn McGee and Helen Fuselier.

Pallbearers are Danny Deshotel, Scott Deshotel, Ryan Deshotel, Getty Eval, Taylor Eval, Jon-Erik Eval, Terry Fuselier and  Johnny Deshotel.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Saturday, March 13th from 9:00 am until time of services.
