Joan Weideman Fruge passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, at the age of 70.
Joan will be remembered for her generous spirit, unwavering love for her family, dedication to her students, and the kindness she showed to everyone she met.
A celebration of Joan's bright and beautiful life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2026, in the chapel of Ardoin's Funeral Home in Basile with Deacon Gary Gaudin officiating.
Joan was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, treasured friend, and dedicated educator. Throughout her career as a schoolteacher, she touched the lives of countless students with her kindness, patience, and passion for learning. Her legacy of compassion and commitment to education will continue to live on in the hearts of those she inspired.
Joan found great joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved reading, was an exceptional cook, and delighted in preparing meals that brought family and friends together. She was known for her warm heart, unwavering encouragement, and willingness to lend a listening ear. Above all, Joan was a proud mother and grandmother whose greatest happiness came from spending time with her family, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
She is lovingly survived by her husband of 53 wonderful years, Clifford Fruge; her son, Jeffery (Tatum) Fruge; and her daughter, Megan (David) Daigle. She also leaves behind her seven cherished grandchildren, Devan, Payton, Cloee, Collin, Hunter, Grant, and Easton; her beloved great-grandchild, Hudson; and countless extended family members and friends who were blessed to know her.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Elise Weideman; her twin sister, June Young; and her brother, Glen Weideman.
Joan will be remembered for her generous spirit, unwavering love for her family, dedication to her students, and the kindness she showed to everyone she met. Although she will be deeply missed, her love, wisdom, and gentle presence will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Basile, with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday, July 3, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m.
