EUNICE-It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the loss of our loved one, John "J.C." Bourque, who passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Eunice Manor surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 87. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00pm on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice. Burial will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery with Father Sensat, Celebrant.

John, known as "J.C.", worked in the oilfield as a young man. Later, he became a car salesman until retirement. He loved gardening and was very proud of his large garden which he planted and tended each year until the age of 84. His retirement years were spent traveling the country by motor home with his wife, Sylvia. Together they visited the majority of the states, as well as parts of Canada and Mexico. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, J.C is survived by his wife of 70 years, Sylvia Ann O'Pry Bourque of Eunice; seven children, Brenda Bourque Gatte of Duson, Patricia Bourque Deshotel of Rayne, Audrey Bourque of Carrollton, GA., Douglas Bourque and wife, Brenda of Scott, Janice Bourque Fruge and husband, Randy of Eunice, John R. Bourque of Scott, and Anna Bourque of Mamou; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Celanie Courville Bourque; four brothers, Louis, Harry, Clarence, and Kelly Bourque.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Monday, March 11th, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again on Tuesday, March 12th, from 9:00 am until time of services. Deacon T.J. Richard will recite a Rosary at 6:00pm Monday.
