EUNICEA wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Joseph Jessie Bergeron will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Jessie passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at his residence at the age of 78. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 01, 2009 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Richard. Entombment will follow in the St. Edward Mausoleum with Father Sonny Brown Celebrant.
Joseph known as Jessie to all who knew him was a retired Veteran in the United States Army having serviced his country proudly in the Korean War as well as a Silver Star Recipient which is the nations third highest award. He was a Charter member of the Knights of Columbus Charlene Richard Council in Richard since 1984 and a member of the VFW Post 8971 in Eunice for many years. Jessie also enjoyed the sport of fishing and hunting which brought a great deal of joy to his life to share it with his grandchildren.
Leaving behind to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 56 years, Lenora Sattler Bergeron of the Prudhomme Community; his son, David Willie Bergeron and his wife, Tracie of Eunice; his four daughters, Nadine Thibodeaux and her husband, Larry of Eunice, Susan Ardoin of Basile, Cathy Guidry and her husband, Carrol and Jessica Gaspard and her husband, Mitchell all of Eunice; his brother, John Allen Bergeron of Eunice; his four sisters, Ann LeJeune of Iota, Louella LeJeune of Oberlin, Delosie DeVille of Crowley and Elaine Francois of Ritchie and the joys of his life his fifteen grandchildren, Danny, Brent and Cassie Lanthier, Christopher, Shellie and Donovan Ardoin, Travis, Casey, Nicholas and Kellie Guidry, Kimberly and Kevin Gaspard, Alex, Abbie and Aaron Bergeron and the littlest joys of his life his three great grandchildren, Emma Claire Lanthier, Danica Shay Lanthier and Tanner Cole Lanthier. Also mourning his loss are numerous nieces and nephews. Jessie will be forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Now he rests in heaven with his beloved parents, Etienne and Virgie Boudreaux Bergeron; his brothers, James and Alvin Bergeron; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Willie and Louise Sattler and his son-in-law, Nolan Spluke Ardoin.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Monday, November 30, 2009 at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Tuesday, December 01, 2009 from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited on Monday evening at 6:00 pm.
