Obituary

Joseph “Ray” Aucoin passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in Eunice at the age of 88. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the St. Thomas More Cemetery with Father Hampton Davis officiating services.

Ray was born on Friday, September 2, 1938, in Mamou, Louisiana and will be remembered as a loving man and a good caregiver whose steady presence meant a great deal to those around him. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1958 - 1962, and throughout his life he carried himself with a sense of dedication and commitment.

Ray spent 45 years working as a banker, a long and faithful career that reflected his reliability and strong work ethic. Beyond his profession, Ray found joy in music and was known for playing the guitar for many local bands. He was also an avid reader and had a special love for animals, especially his beloved dogs.

Ray leaves behind the memory of a life lived with warmth, kindness, and heart. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of over 65 years, Norma M. Aucoin; sons, Keith Aucoin (Lori), Jon Craig Aucoin, and Neil Aucoin (Yvette); daughter, Angela Aucoin Cormier (Aubrey); 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother, Robert Aucoin (Carolyn).

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell and Bonnie Courville Aucoin; grandson, Jon Christian Aucoin; brothers, Jeffery and Silton Aucoin; and sister, Bernella Fruge.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 beginning at 10:00 AM until services. A rosary, led by Ray’s niece, Liz Johnson will be prayed at 1:00 PM.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to his hospice caregivers, Lori Bellard-Bushnell, Tatum Fruge, and Christine Richard. Their compassion and excellent care truly made a difference.
