With heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of Laura Mae Frey, who left us peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the age of 86, surrounded by the loving embrace of her family in her home. Born on November 19, 1939, in Eunice to Howard and Jeanette Thibodeaux Leger, Laura’s life was a beautiful testament to devotion, love, and family.
Laura was a dedicated homemaker and cherished farmer’s wife who lovingly raised five children. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family; she was a valued member of the Ladies Altar Society and found joy in cross-stitching, sewing, and camping outings shared with her husband and dear friends. Sundays were special, marked by warm family dinners lovingly prepared by Laura, creating cherished memories for all.
She is lovingly remembered by her five children—Marty Frey and her wife Rachel, Renee Dietz and her husband David, Shane Frey and his wife Cherie of Mowata, Troy Frey and his wife Jill of Easterwood, and Blaze Frey and his wife Kelly of Lafayette. Laura’s legacy shines brightly through her thirteen grandchildren—Cole, Brittany, Angelle, Stefan, Faran, Kristina, Jared, Cade, Kaleb, Victoria, Kinley, and Aimee—and her twenty-three great-grandchildren, each a testament to her enduring love. Her spirit also lives on through her four brothers, Michael Leger and wife Connie, James (Tee) Leger, Ronald Leger and wife, Margaret, and Brendon and wife Lisa, all from Eunice, alongside cherished extended family members and dear friends who mourn her passing.
Laura was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Barry Frey; her grandson, Trenton Dietz; her parents; her brother, Howard (Joe) Joseph Leger, Jr.; and her nephew, Mark Leger.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2026, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mowata, with burial to follow at the St. Lawrence Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the church starting at 8:00 a.m., with a Rosary to be prayed at 10:00 a.m. by her devoted children, Marty, Renee, Shane, Troy, and Blaze.
