EUNICE~It is with great s adness and heavy hearts that the family of Leo “Pop” Picard announces his passing on Monday, October 12, 2020 at the Acadian Medical Center in Eunice with loving family by his side. He was 93. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Sensat Celebrant.
Leo, or “Pop” as he was called by many was a retired heavy equipment operator for Ashy Construction. He loved cooking, playing cards and cleaning his yard. He was a dedicated parishioner of the St. Thomas More Catholic Church as well as the crackling cooker for the St. Thomas More Bazaar and a cleaning angel. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him. A devoted family man whose memory will be carried on through his four children, Elma P. Guidry, Mary Wilda Bellard and husband, Laurent, Jr, Geraldine Ruppert and husband, Richard and John D. Picard and wife, Linda all of Eunice; his brother, Joseph Picard of Rayne; his twelve grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Nita Picard; his parents, Francois and Olivin Daigle Picard; grandson, Joseph Randall Bellard and son-in-law, Felton Guidry.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Wednesday, October 14th from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm and again on Thursday, October 15th from 8:00 am until time of services. Mr. Harry Reed will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm Wednesday.
