BASILE-It is with heavy hearts that the family of Leola Johnson announces the passing of their beautiful mother, sister, grandmother and friend at the age of 82. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday, January 24, 2022, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery with Father Brown, Celebrant.
Leola was a very active and devout parishioner of St. Augustine Catholic Church. She was a leader of the Come Lord Jesus group for over thirty years, a member of the Ladies Altar Society and the choir. She was also a retired cafeteria manager at W.W. Stewart, and active in the community, always helping others and the elderly.
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her family, including her children, Samual Johnson and wife, Louise of Eunice, Owen Johnson and wife, Shirley of Elton, Mickey Johnson and wife, Sharon of Basile, and Kim Veronie and husband, Michael of Tepetate; siblings, Earl LaFleur of Breaux Bridge and Rosalee Savant and husband, Disca of Kinder; twelve grandchildren, Linda Reed (Mike), Sarah Johnson, Teri Johnson, Lindslee Goleman (Ryan), Emmye Johnson, Lance Johnson (Sarah), Matthew Johnson (Addie), Morgan Johnson (Ashlee), John Ross Johnson, Hanna Johnson, Sean Veronie (Lauren), and Erin Veronie; thirteen great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.
She is preceded by her husband, John V. “Tiny” Johnson; parents, Red and Camile Fontenot LaFleur; and siblings, Dorothy Sanders, Eula Mae LaFleur, and Paul LaFleur, Jr.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile on Monday, January 24th from 9:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 am.
