EUNICE-It is with heavy hearts that the family of Loretta Pitre Fruge announces her passing at the Acadian Medical Center in Eunice on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at the age of 81. A Celebration of Life to honor Loretta will be celebrated at 2:30 pm on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Eunice. Entombment will follow in the St. Paul Mausoleum with Pastor Andrew Bates officiating.
Loretta was born in Eunice on September 18, 1942, to Floyd and Margaritte Comeaux Pitre. Her unwavering faith and dedication led her to become an integral member of the First Baptist Church community, actively engaging in enriching bible studies. Loretta found joy in playing tennis and was a skilled member of both the Eunice and Lafayette tennis leagues. Loretta raised her daughters around her love of God, music, and dance. She was a strong woman who made her opinions known. Loretta will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her daughters, Melody Guidry and fiancé, Gene Courville of Lafayette, Lisa Johnson and husband, Kevin of Eunice, Penny Richey and husband, Arthur of Sour Lake, TX, and Wendy Marcantel of Lafayette; sister, Shirley Ann Pitre of Eunice; sister in law, Janella Pitre of Carencro; nine grandchildren, Tony LaFleur, Kari Fruge, Erin Cheng, Rhett Johnson, Jillian Wood, Brandon Richey, Johnathan Richey, Paige Arbuckle, and Madeline Marcantel; eighteen great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter on the way; as well as extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Anthony Fruge; her parents; her brother, J. Floyd Pitre, Jr.; two great grandchildren and two great-great grandsons.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at First Baptist Church in Eunice on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 9:00 am until time of services at 2:30 pm.
