BASILE-It is with heavy hearts that the family of Marcus "Stooge" LeJeune announces his passing on Monday, May 02, 2016 at Lafayette General Medical Center at the age of 78. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery with Father David Hebert Celebrant and Deacon David Guillory Concelebrant.

Marcus, known as Stooge to all who knew and loved him, had the most positive outlook on life, an outgoing personality and always had a smile. He was in the graduating class of 1957 and had a love for his town and the Bearcats. Stooge was involved in the community and serviced on the city council. In his early days he was an oilfield worker, as well as a cotton and cattle farmer. He had Stooge's Grocery and Gas, Stooge's Package Liquor Store and was also a car salesman, shop foreman, insurance salesman, timber salesman, Advertising Director for the Basile Weekly, and a delivery driver for Bellard's Pharmacy. Most of all, he loved his family especially his children, Darrel LeJeune and spouse, Reggie, Cynthia Smith and husband, Philip, all of Basile, Rhonda Bellard of Eunice, and Brandon LeJeune and wife, Erica of Lafayette; sister, Panzy Hebert and husband, James of Basile; companion, Connie Conde of Basile; eleven grandchildren, Tiffany Smith Roy and husband, Brock, Amber Smith Hayes and husband, Dustin, Ryan Smith and wife, Anne, Blaine Smith and wife, Olivia, Blaise, Adrienne, Amelia and John Bradley Bellard, Samantha Dupont, Dalton and Ava Marceaux; eleven great grandchildren, Madison, Kailey and Breanna Roy, Mason Smith, Samantha and Hailey Hayes, Kye, Karson and Brinley Smith, Braxton and Victoria Smith.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Pousson LeJeune; son, Donald Paul LeJeune; parents, Milton and Beulah LeJeune; brother, Ferrill LeJeune.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile on Wednesday, May 4th from 9:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 11:30 am Wednesday morning and a Family Tribute will be held at 12:00 pm Wednesday.
