EUNICE- It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Jane Bertrand Blanchard, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend who left this world Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the age of 88, surrounded by her loving family.

Mary, born on July 6, 1936, to Oday and Ava LeJeune Bertrand, touched many lives with her warmth and kindness. In her earlier years, she brought joy to those around her while working as a waitress at the Oleander Restaurant and Lenny’s Restaurant in Eunice. Mary enjoyed playing Bourrée, cooking delicious meals, and working at Angelo’s Fireworks, all of which reflected her passion for life.

Mary was the proud mother of five children, two sons, Michael Blanchard, Sr. and wife, Cindy of Eunice and Rodney Blanchard, Jr. and wife, Connie of Ville Platte, three daughters, Judy Sittig of Eunice, Phyllis Coleman and husband, Byron of Mowata, and Connie Thibodeaux and husband, Stephen of Church Point; two sister in laws, Frances Bertrand of Rayne and Anna Lee Thibodeaux of Eunice; twelve grandchildren, Clint Sittig and wife, Tammy, Donnie Sittig, Ronald Sittig and wife, Tabitha, Michael Blanchard, Jr. and wife, Judy, Laura Shuff and husband, Aaron, Jason Paul Blanchard and wife, Ashley, Johnathon Blanchard and wife, Wendy, Skyla Huckaby, Ryan Blanchard, Jessica Thibodeaux, Ashley Quibodeaux, and Alesha Quibodeaux; twenty-nine great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; as well as an extensive circle of extended family and dear friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

 She is preceded in death by her husband, Rodney Blanchard, Sr.; parents; brothers, Clayton, Esterwood, and Allen Bertrand; sisters, Clerdy Miller, Alverta LaFleur, Ida Mae Ardoin, Joyce Manuel, and Patrella Bertrand; granddaughter, Chassity Sittig; and great grandchildren, Icelynn Sittig, Nicholas Sittig, and Hally Prudhomme.

 In honor of Mary’s life, a visitation will be held on Sunday, September 29, from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and again on Monday, September 30, 2024, from 8:00 AM until the time of service. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice, with burial to follow in the St. Paul Cemetery, officiated by Deacon Gary Gaudin. A Rosary will be prayed by Deacon Gary Gaudin at 6:00 PM on Sunday.
