Mary Bertrand

EUNICE~It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the loss of their loved one, Mary Lou Bertrand on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice at the age of 85.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:30 pm on Tuesday, September 03, 2019 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Matthew Hebert Celebrant.

Mary was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her family. She will be remembered as one who enjoyed cooking on Sundays for the family, going to adoration, cutting grass, gardening, camping and loved nothing more than spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, sewing and coffee dates. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend and precious memories of her will remain forever in the hearts of her children and those who love her.

She is survived by her three children, Robert Bertrand and wife, Rosario of Woodworth, Jenny Jagneaux and husband, Brent and Patrica Reed and husband, Keith both of Eunice; her brother, Willie David and wife, Wilda of Duralde; her daughter-in-law, Telina Bertrand;  her fourteen grandchildren, Andrea Cormier, Wendy Nugent, Melissa Stanley, Chris Reed, Dusty Jagneaux, Jackie Delafosse, Robert Bertrand, Jr., Virginia Bertrand, Tiffany Reed, Alex-Keith Reed, Laura Reed, Dylan Bertrand, Shelbie Cormier, and William Bertrand;  fifteen great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Junice Burke Bertrand; sons, Billy and Paul Bertrand; her grandson, Anthony Jagneaux; parents, Plenny and Virginia Manuel David; siblings Mary Louise Veillon and Willis David.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Monday, September 2nd from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm and again on Tuesday, September 3rd from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Chuck Ortego will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm on Monday.
