Mary Montelaro

EUNICE~ It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mary Margaret Montelaro announces her passing on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at the Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas at the age of 71. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Paul Mausoleum with Father Hampton Davis Celebrant.

Mary was a 1967 graduate of St. Edmund High School, a graduate of St. Mary Dominican with a Bachelor of Science, and a graduate of the University of Louisiana-Monroe School of Pharmacy. She taught chemistry at LSUE and practiced as a pharmacist. She was a devout Catholic and had a strong devotion to our Blessed Mother. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and was involved in prayer groups. Mary loved to travel with friends and family and also loved Christmas. She always had Christmas envelopes for her nieces and nephews. Mary will be missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her siblings, James Montelaro of Eunice, Dr. Louis Montelaro and wife, Gail of New Roads, Frances M. Fruge and husband, Harry of Eunice, and Father Tom Montelaro of Eunice; nieces and nephews, Christine M. Barbour, Phyllis Gremillion, Jody Montelaro, Gregory Montelaro, Anne Marie Miller, Donald Fruge, Angelle Driggs, Philip Montelaro, Mitch Montelaro, Corrine Montelaro, and Andrea Bradford; sister in law, Kathy Montelaro of California; and extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Philip and Anne Ferruggia Montelaro; and brother, Carlos Montelaro.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice on Wednesday, December 30th from 9:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday at 10:30 am by Deacon Gary Gaudin.
