It is with heavy hearts that the family of Morella Johnson announces her passing on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Eunice Manor at the age of 82. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 7, 2025, at the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Entombment will follow in the St. Augustine Mausoleum with Father Keenan Brown, Celebrant.
Morella Aymond was born on November 15, 1942, in Eunice, Louisiana, to the late Theophile and Ophelia Schexnayder Aymond. She brought warmth and joy to all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on her family and friends. A spirited card player, Morella reveled in the excitement of Bourré, sharing countless laughs and memories around the table. Throughout her life, she cherished the simple pleasures, whether it was immersing herself in the world of her favorite soap operas or gathering with loved ones to enjoy game shows in the evenings. She was also a passionate fan of both Saints and LSU football. Above all, Morella’s heart overflowed with love for her family and grandchildren. She took great joy in hosting family gatherings, particularly during holidays, where her home was filled with laughter, love, and the creation of timeless memories.
Morella will be missed by all, especially her children, Chad Johnson of Basile, Jeffrey Johnson and wife, Carissa of L’anse Meg, Dana Miller and husband, Thomas of Alabama, Kristie Bertrand and husband, Daniel of Basile, and Kayla Johnson of Basile; her siblings, Kerrill Aymond of L’anse Meg, Dennie Aymond and wife, Lori of Eunice, Lelia Ray LaFleur and husband, Raven of Eunice, and Sherrill Manuel and husband, Tommy of Basile; her grandchildren, Tom Miller, Brently Bertrand, Lane Bertrand, Emily Vige, Steven Bertrand, Daenen Stokes, Hallie Jo Johnson, Macie Claire Johnson, Adam Picard, Taylor Perron, and Noah Godeaux; her great grandchildren, Braxton, Amelia, Abram, Chloe, Alex, Khloe, and two on the way; as well as extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Amos James Johnson, Jr. and her parents.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 11:00am, all night, until 10:30 am on Thursday, May 8, 2025. The Catholic Daughters will pray a rosary at 6:00 pm on Wednesday.
