Mary Ann Sonnier

EUNICE – Funeral services will be held for Mary Ann Aguillard Sonnier at 11:oo AM on 7/1/2024 at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice officiated by Bro. Clark Palmer. A burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Mary Ann Sonnier, 87 of Eunice passed away June 23, 2024, at the residence of her daughters in Murfreesboro, TN. She was born on February 16, 1937, in Basile, LA to the late Rene and Essie Aguillard. Mary Ann worked as the church secretary at First Baptist Church in Eunice for a total of 32 years. She was affectionately known as “Mrs. Mary Ann.” She enjoyed reading, working puzzles & was an amazing Cajun cook. Her beef roasts, gumbos & roux were sought after by many.

In 1967, while working at the church, she met a widower, Paul L. Sonnier, with 3 children and fell in love. They married on her birthday in 1968. She later adopted the children & loved them as her own. Together, a couple of years later, they welcomed another daughter.

Survivors include her daughters, Debbie Sonnier & Liz Sonnier; her sons, Rick Sonnier & wife, Catherine of Dallas, TX; Robert Sonnier & fiancée, Dawn Campbell of Justin, TX; two granddaughters, Emily Sonnier Moody & husband Miles & Grace Sonnier.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rene & Essie Aguillard; husband of 38 years, Paul L. Sonnier; and 7 siblings: Roland Aguillard, Verna Lee Labry, Lois Tyson, Lou LeJeune, Lottie Ledoux, Ethel Moreau & Rodgers Aguillard.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2024, from 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Eunice and will resume at 8:00 AM at Ardoin’s until time of services.
