EUNICE-It is with heavy hearts that the family of Myrtis Gillett Smith announces her passing on Friday, July 01, 2016 at her home with loving family by her side at the age of 86. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 07, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Eunice. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Pastor Tim Moffett officiating.

A loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, Myrtis will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her especially her two children, Jana Smith of Denver, CO and John Eric Smith of Eunice; brother, William G. Gillett, Jr. and wife, Paula of Lafayette; five grandchildren, Gretchen Jordan, David Slate, Adam ArcangelSimar, Alicia Mire, and Nicolas Smith; and five great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, O. J. Smith; son, David Joe Smith; and parents, William G. Gillett and Ruby McManus Gillett.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at First Baptist Church in Eunice on Thursday, July 7th from 9:30 am until time of services.
