Patrick D. “Pat” Champagne Sr., aged 96, passed away peacefully on July 29th, 2026, in Lafayette, LA. Born in Lockport, LA on November 21st, 1929, he was the eleventh of twelve children. He lived a life marked by faith and devotion to his family and country.

Pat graduated from Holy Savior High School in Lockport, LA, and immediately joined the Navy at age 16. He served as a Yeoman at the Naval Mine Warfare School in Yorktown, VA from 1946-1948. After his military service, he worked in the pipeline industry, owned and operated Pat’s American Service Station in Lafayette, LA, then worked for Motorola as a sales executive until his retirement in 1993.

He is survived by wife of almost 71 years, Mary Lynn Fuselier Champagne, daughter Paula Marcotte and husband George, sons Patrick D Champagne, Jr., Charles Champagne and wife Jennifer, Paul Champagne and wife Sarah, and David Champagne and wife Julie, eleven grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Emilienne Richard Champagne, five brothers, Hubert P. Champagne, Rev. Rene' Champagne CP, Robert J. Champagne, John A. Champagne, and Richard P. Champagne, and six sisters, Lucille LeBlanc, Vivian Dolan, Marie Bergeron, Rita Creswell, Sister Marguerite Anne Champagne and Helen Gautreaux. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

A visitation at Ardoin’s Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian burial are pending in Eunice, LA. A private burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the care givers who comforted Dad in his final days. Special recognition goes to his granddaughter, Jennifer Potier and Allegiance Hospice, for arranging such great care for Dad.
