Rebecca Sonnier Duhon

     BASILE~ It is with the heaviest hearts that the family of Rebecca Sonnier Duhon announces her unexpected passing on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 71. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in the St. Augustine Mausoleum with Rev. Kenneth J. Domingue, Celebrant.

     Becky was born on July 30, 1951, to Burley and Vernita Fontenot Sonnier in Eunice. A 1969, graduate of Basile High School. She was a Banker at St. Landry Bank in Eunice many years ago. She loved to help in the community, and she was a member of the Pink Ladies and volunteered at the hospital, she was a religion teacher for many years at St. Augustine, a paraprofessional and volunteer at WW. Stewart Elementary.  She loved spending time with family and friends and especially quality time with her grandchildren to spoil every chance she got.  Everyone who knew Becky knew that she was an extremely kind, loving, gentle and peaceful person, and that she loved her family very much especially her loving husband of fifty years, Gerald Duhon of Basile; daughters, Jana D. Fontenot and husband, Cody of Mandeville, Ginger D. Williams and wife, Kendi and Jade D. Doucet and husband, Jerod all of Basile; sisters, Melissa S. Seilhan and late husband, Paul and Kathrine Sonnier both of Basile. She loved being a Mam Maw to the eight joys of her life, her grandchildren, Jake, Seth, Avery, Jackson, Evann, Jensen Jentry and Jep. Heaven became a little brighter.

     She is preceded in death by her parents.

     At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Basile on Friday, April 28^th from 10:00am until 9:00 pm and again on Saturday, April 29^th from 8:00 am until time of services. The class of 1969 and CCD teachers will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm on Friday.
