Richard Demetrio Alagad

It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Richard Demetrio Alagad on May 26, 2025, at Our Lady of Lourdes in Lafayette. He was just 46 years old. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery, with Father Clement officiating.

Richard was born on June 4, 1978, to Antonio Alagad and Constance Fontenot. For two decades, he dedicated himself to his work at Tanner, where he was known not only for his commitment but also for the warmth he brought to his workplace. He was a true sports enthusiast whose passion for life resonated with everyone around him. Richard was an outgoing and caring individual, always prioritizing family and showing selflessness in everything, he did. His culinary talents also drew friends and family together, often around a table filled with delicious home-cooked meals.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, notably with his mother, Constance Fontenot; his son, Austin Alagad of Eunice; his brother, Antonio Alagad of Opelousas; and his sisters, April Thelemann, and her husband, Carl, of New York, and Christina LeJeune of Eunice. Richard also leaves behind numerous extended family members and many dear friends who will keep his spirit alive in their hearts.

Richard is preceded in death by his father, Antonio Alagad, who undoubtedly will be waiting to embrace him.

At the request of the family, a visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Wednesday, May 28th, from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again on Thursday, May 29th, from 8:00 am until the time of services.
