Roland "Red" Prudhomme

A Mass of Christian Burial for Roland “Red” Prudhomme will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 30, 2025, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Father Hampton Davis will officiate at the service. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Roland “Red” Prudhomme, 89, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. He was born on November 25, 1935, in Eunice, LA, to the late Lathan and Maline Brown Prudhomme. Red was a Welder, welding inspector, and consultant by trade. His mind was a steel trap, as if he fabricated it himself. Between boots, buckshot & blistering heat he was a family man. He and Martha raised four determined children as they danced their way through the American dream. In turn, their children gave them a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who also shared that same indomitable spirit. Red had many hobbies, which all involved hard work, except for loving his Wife, that part came easily. He sowed seasonal gardens so his family could reap their bounty. Their home was adorned with vegetables as if carefully curated. He immersed himself in Cajun Culture, started a hunting club (with his rules) & began a traditional Boucherie for all the family to revel in. He was happy to teach if you were willing to learn, but you had to listen as well. Though he is no longer with us, he did not just pass away, He Went Home.

He is survived by his daughters, Rainnie Bell and her husband, Bryan and Sherry Smith and her husband, Barry; sons, Sammy Prudhomme and his wife, Paula and Joey Prudhomme; grandchildren, Joshua McGee, Brian McGee, Benjamin McGee, Jessica Bell, Brett Smith, Kiley Meche, Fallon Beemer, Ferren Prudhomme Broussard, Spenser Prudhomme, Sage Prudhomme, Matthew Prudhomme, and Courtney Prudhomme; 20 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and a great great-grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lathan and Maline Brown Prudhomme; and wife of 60 years, Martha Angeron Prudhomme, and son, Roland J. Prudhomme.

Visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Eunice on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Deacon Gary Gaudin will recite the rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 8:00 AM until the time of services.
