Rufus Cosper

EUNICE~The family hearts are filled with sorrow as they announce the passing of their loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend,  Rufus "R.C." Cosper on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Christus St. Patrick in Lake Charles with loving family by his side. He was 79. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, March 13, 2020 at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Deacon Gary Gaudin officiating.

A proud veteran, Rufus served his country in the Louisiana National Guard. He was a truck driver for over fifty years. He loved to spend time at the Lake House in Sweet Water, Texas. He loved fishing and watching western movies. But most of all he loved spending time with his family and he will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him especially his wife Altha Weir of Midland, TX; his three children, Linda Miller and husband, Markus of Salt Lake City, UT ,  Andy Cosper and wife, Rhonda of Longville, Bea Bee and husband, Jack of Odessa, TX; his four step children, Burt Slater of Rockport, TX, Kevin Slater and wife, Marcia and Vance Slater all of Odessa, TX and Ronald Weir of Denver City, TX; fourteen grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Mable Byrd Cosper; son, Mike Cosper; his first wife, Elta M.Cosper; second wife, Patricia S. Cosper; brother, Sammie Cosper.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Friday, March 13, 2020 from 9:00 am until time of services.

The family would like to send a special thanks to all his doctors and nurses at St. Patrick's Hospital, Heart of Hospice and Rosepine Retirement and Rehabilitation Center.
