     EUNICE~It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Stephen Cortina on August 12, 2023 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 58. A Chapel service will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, Deacon Gary Gaudin, officiating.

     Steve was born on February 23, 1965, in Trenton, New Jersey, a son to Louis Cortina and Velma Cortina McCauley. He was a driller in the oilfield who loved to fish, hunt and spend time with his grandchildren. This gentle, loving, caring and wonderful man has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be missed by his wife and best friend, of twenty two years, Shelley C. Cortina of Eunice; six children, Seth Cortina and wife, Steevie of Turkey Creek, Buddy Fruge and wife, Chancely of Mamou, Katie LaFleur and husband, Chad, of Basile; Jamie Fruge and fiancé, Tyler Brewer, Albury Cortina and Hugh Cortina, all of Eunice; siblings, Jennifer Himel of Eunice, Louis “Dewey” Cortina and wife, Robin of Ewing, NJ, Susan McCauley and husband, Billy, Mark Cortina, Cindy Blanchard and husband, Mike, Charlie Cortina and wife, Sandra, Theresa Bordelon and husband, Barry, all of Eunice, Lucretia “Duka” West and husband, Chad of Lanse Meg and Christopher Cortina of Eunice; the joys of his life, his grandchildren, Noah and Daulton LeBlue, Jett and Maxx LaFleur, Jax, Ilee and Elle Fruge, Hadlee Smith, LeRoy and Kaiden  Brewer, Brensen and Stephen Cortina, Albury Cortina, Jr, Ella Mae and Kayson Cortina, ; as well as extended family and friends.

     He is preceded in death by his father, Louis Cortina, mother, Velma Cortina McCauley and stepfather, Franklin “Boo-Key” McCauley, brother, Scott Frances Cortina; sister-in-law, Marlene Cortina granddaughter, AnnaBella LeBlue and his in-laws, Henry and Mable Gaspard Courville.

    At the request of the family, a visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Monday, August 14, from noon until time of services. A Rosary will be held at 5:00 pm on Monday by Deacon Gary Gaudin.
