EUNICE ~ It is with the heaviest hearts that the family of Stephen Charles Gilkey announces his passing on Saturday, July 11, 2015, at the age of 35. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:30 pm on Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Msgr. Romero Celebrant.

Stephen graduated from LSU with a BS in Kinesiology and had an associate degree in Massage Therapy from the University of Colorado. He was currently a massage therapist at La Palmera Spa in Abbeville and a nursing student at UL in Lafayette. He was musically inclined and loved playing his guitar, riding his motorcycle, wonderful father, was a Eagle Scout, a Scout Master at St. Pius, a 2nd degree black belt taekwondo and he loved people. He was a true renaissance man.

He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him especially his loving wife, Carrie Stroder Gilkey of Lafayette; his parents, William J. Gilkey of Marryville, TN and Delores G. Gilkey of Baton Rouge; his three loving children, Justin Stroder, 17, Joseph Charles Gilkey, 2 and Elianna Marie Gilkey, 13 months, all of Lafayette; his brother, Michael E. Gilkey and wife, Kelly of Cleveland, OH; his sister, Laura M. Gilkey of Glen Burnie, MD; and his in-laws, Carl and Emeline Stroder of Lafayette.

Pallbearers will be, Michael Gilkey, Justin Stroder, Scott Woodrow, David Godbold, Kevin Graham, and Bill Gilkey.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice, on Tuesday, July 14th from 11:00 am till time of services on Wednesday. Deacon David Guillory will recite a Rosary at 7:00 pm Tuesday evening.
