EUNICE~It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Swizerleen "Swiz" Fontenot Kellar announces her death on Monday, September 03, 2018 in the comfort of her home with her loving family by her side. She was 90. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Msgr. Robert Romero at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 08, 2018 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Swiz was a devout Catholic who prayed the rosary daily and loved being a part of a weekly Bible Study with cherished friends. She was a nationally licensed beautician and beautician instructor since 1948 having graduated from beauty school in Lafayette, LA as well as the Robert Fiance Beauty School in New York. She had shops in Elton, Basile, and Eunice. Swizerleen and Gerald worked side by side in Eunice at Gerald's House of Beauty. She served as a French interpreter for CODOFIL when our sister city visited. Swizerleen loved her Cajun heritage and preserving the Cajun language, both through a club at LSUE as well as the French Table at the Acadian Cultural Center. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas since childhood, numerous clubs, and adored painting with her husband and sister, Ily. She was devoted to her family and friends.

She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her especially her loving husband of 65 years, Gerald "Chub" Kellar of Eunice; two sons, Kurt D. Kellar and wife, Melinda of Carlyss and Gerald Keith Kellar of Crowley; two daughters, Michelle Rae Kellar of Pinecrest and Yvette Fleenor and husband, Mike of Virginia; her six grandchildren, Derrick Kellar, Erin Kellar, Lydia Kellar, Alexander Kellar and his mother Sonia Kellar, Hannah and Ily Fleenor; as well as extended family and friends.

Swiz is preceded in death by her son, Kyle Damian Kellar; parents, Duma and Lucia Fontenot and beloved sister, Ily Fontenot.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Friday, September 7th from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Saturday, September 8th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will lead the Rosary at 6:00 pm on Friday.
