Obituary

EUNICE- It is with heavy hearts that the family of Valley Vidrine, Jr. announces his passing on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at his home with family by his side at the age of 82. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Burial will follow in the Ashford Cemetery with Father Clement, Celebrant.

Valley Ashford Vidrine, Jr., born on July 5, 1944, in Eunice, Louisiana, to the late Valley and Lucy Ashford Vidrine, Sr., lived a life filled with love and dedication. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Valley was unwaveringly devoted to his passions and his family. He embraced the land as a farmer, cultivating fields of crawfish, rice, and okra with care and dedication. Beyond the fields, he was a gifted wood craftsman, making treasured items for friends and family. Known for his vibrant spirit, Valley's love for French music, Elvis, and Johnny Cash filled the hearts of those around him.

A devout member of the Knights of Columbus at Annunciation Catholic Church in Duralde, Valley was deeply committed to his faith, proudly attending Mass almost every Sunday, only missing three Masses throughout his life. In his quiet moments, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of crossword puzzles, peanut M&Ms, orange slices, and Pecan Sandies. Above all, Valley cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. His legacy of love, humor, and craftsmanship will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Valley will be missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife of sixty years, Mary “Maggie” Vidrine of Eunice; his son, Paul Chris Vidrine of Eunice; his daughter, Emily Nicole Vidrine of Eunice; brother, Floyd Vidrine of Eunice; his grandchildren, Seth Marcantel and wife, Leah, Katelynn Marcantel, Ariel Roberts and husband, Jacob, Robert Miller, Katlin Soileau and husband, Kenny, Austin Sylvester, Anna Vidrine, Cheyenne Soileau and husband, Cameron, and Jacob Miller; his great grandchildren, Ellie Ceasar, Avery Crosby, Vera Miller, Gemma, Demi, and Lennox Marcantel, Isabella, Chandler, and Valley June Soileau, Eli, Gracie and Joel Soileau, and Selah Roberts; as well as extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Willie “Bill” Ray Vidrine.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm, and again on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 8:00 am until time of services. The Knights of Columbus will pray a rosary at 6:00pm on Friday.
