Wilda graduated from Basile High School in 1973. She then moved to Arizona and started a family with her 1st husband, Ronnie. In 1978, Wilda decided to return to Louisiana with her two children. Wilda was a very special woman with the biggest heart. She was always going out of her way to help anyone in need. She had the type of personality that made everyone feel loved when they were around her. Wilda’s greatest joy was to be around all of her family and friends, especially her grandkids. She was known to everyone as “Memaw” or “Mom” including people she just met. Wilda had a passion for making crafts, mainly wreaths. She enjoyed spending time with her friends playing pokeno. She also loved to watch tv, listening to music, reading, and baking.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Patrick Fontenot of Tepetate; five loving children, Ryan Lejeune and wife Sarah of Midland, TX; Angelle Lejeune Seeley and husband John of Ball Ground, GA; Kayla Fontenot of Alexandria, LA; Kyle Fontenot of Tepetate; and Benjamin Fontenot and wife Nancy of Eunice, LA. The family would like to express its sincere gratitude to countless prayers offered for their loved one. Special gratitude to the amazing nurses at Opelousas General who took such great care of Wilda for the past two months. And to the doctors that moved heaven and earth to give us the opportunity to have that time with her.
