EUNICE~Wilda Rose Klumpp Fontenot, age 66, died peacefully Wednesday, July 28th at Opelousas General surrounded by family and friends. Wilda was born January 26, 1955 to the late Raymond and Mabel Klumpp of Tepetate.

Wilda graduated from Basile High School in 1973. She then moved to Arizona and started a family with her 1st husband, Ronnie. In 1978, Wilda decided to return to Louisiana with her two children. She fell in love with the love of her life, Patrick Fontenot and the two were married in 1979. She was an amazing home-maker while raising five children together. She began raising her oldest grandchild, British in 2005.

Wilda was a very special woman with the biggest heart. She was always going out of her way to help anyone in need. She had the type of personality that made everyone feel loved when they were around her. Wilda’s greatest joy was to be around all of her family and friends, especially her grandkids. She was known to everyone as “Memaw” or “Mom” including people she just met. Wilda had a passion for making crafts, mainly wreaths. She enjoyed spending time with her friends playing pokeno. She also loved to watch tv, listening to music, reading, and baking.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Patrick Fontenot of Tepetate; five loving children, Ryan Lejeune and wife Sarah of Midland, TX; Angelle Lejeune Seeley and husband John of Ball Ground, GA; Kayla Fontenot of Alexandria, LA; Kyle Fontenot of Tepetate; and Benjamin Fontenot and wife Nancy of Eunice, LA. She is also survived by her sister, Hilda Klumpp Ortego of Elton, LA; eighteen grandkids, five nieces and one nephew.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Mabel Stroder Klumpp; sister, Lilda Klumpp Lampo; brother, Raymond Ray Klumpp; brother-in-law, John Ortego; nephew, John David Ortego; and nephew, Carter Klumpp.

The family would like to express its sincere gratitude to countless prayers offered for their loved one. Special gratitude to the amazing nurses at Opelousas General who took such great care of Wilda for the past two months. And to the doctors that moved heaven and earth to give us the opportunity to have that time with her.
