BASILE- Funeral services for Mrs. Willa Mae Smith, was held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 02, 2006, at First Baptist Church in Basile, LA, with burial following in the Basile Protestant Cemetery.

Brother Roderick Martin officiated.

Mrs. Smith, age 83, a resident of Basile died June 30, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. at Savoy Medical Center in Mamou, LA. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, William Smith, Jr.; and a grandson, Owen Smith; and a brother, Benton Bellon.

Survivors include a son, Dwayne Smith and wife, Patricia of Basile, LA; four daughters, Faye Fontenot and husband, Lester of Basile, LA., Shirleen Francois and husband, Craig of Evangeline, LA., Elisa Lafleur and husband, Donald of Elton, LA, Ruth Horn and husband, Doug of Gillis, LA; a brother, Willard Bellon of Mena, Alabama; two sisters, Vertie Courville and husband, Moise of Basile, LA., Pauline Polly Smith of Basile, LA; 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Basile, Saturday, July 01, 2006, from 12:00 noon until 10:00 and again on Sunday, July 02, 2006 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.

Ardoins Funeral Home of Basile, was in charge of arrangements.
